Alumni and Friends

Dear Illinois SkillsUSA Alumni and Friends:

We are hoping that your membership and/or relationship with Illinois SkillsUSA or VICA was a pleasant one. We also hope that you are interested in becoming involved with us again at some level that your busy schedule will allow. There are opportunities for involvement at the local chapter level as well as the State level or even National level, it is up to you. We envision a large group of former members and friends that care to share their expertise and knowledge with our current members.

The SkillsUSA Alumni and Friends Association brings former members and friends of SkillsUSA together so that they can exchange ideas, discuss problems and share common purposes. Alumni help to promote esteem for those students involved in career and technical education. The association even offers leadership development through involvement with the high school and college/postsecondary levels by: a. making speeches to local chapters; b. helping students prepare for state competition; c. being available to assist and advise when needed; d. assisting with or judging contests; e. using personal experience to benefit others. The individual is allowed to improve him or her self by taking part in an active state and national organization. Members have the opportunity to serve as state Alumni Officers while operating under the guidelines of the Illinois Association of SkillsUSA Alumni Constitution.

If SkillsUSA or VICA played a special role in your life, we want to hear about it. Tell us your story and we will make it available to the national organization. It could even end up in a national publication.

As an incentive to join, free membership is being offered by both Illinois and National SkillsUSA. This membership will continue to be free of charge as long as you renew your membership annually. The Illinois SkillsUSA Alumni and Friends membership form can be found by clicking on "Registration Forms", which is a web site button located directly below the button where you found this letter. Fax or mail your form to the Illinois SkillsUSA office.

Some Alumni and Friends find that their schedule or situation is such, that they simply cannot find the time to physically participate in SkillsUSA events and activities. They may wish to join and/or make a contribution to the "Illinois Foundation SkillsUSA". Funds collected by the Foundation are used to help the Association membership whenever there is a money crunch at a conference or other event.

Best Regards,
